I heard the Lord say:
"My beloved...come to me...and spend more time with Me. I am...when you come to me I will fill you up with all that you need. You will become more like me. You will think more like me. For in my presence there is great healing, joy and humility. Without humility, my children cannot approach me openly. Run to my open arms and rest your head on my bosom. Here you will find the greatest of all loves. There is no place like my presence.
Pride keeps my children from my presence. In pride all sorts of wrong attitudes occur; sin and sorrow duly follow. In humility there is truth, love and gentleness and many blessings."
I am always just in awe when I hear my beloved Lord speak. He is always so gentle, so sweet and so kind. He never speaks to me in a downward, acoustic manner. He is truly a gentleman... LoL!!
In my journey with our Lord, He has taught me a lot about humility over the years. We all have some form or level of humility, some more, some less, but truth be told, we all have some level of it.
At times in my life, I was really put through the grindstone and it was very difficult to 'admit' that I was prideful in a particular area of my life. But God persevered and through His word and through others teachings, I began to see areas of my life that definitely needed to be brought under the Lordship Jesus, into humble attitudes. Oh sometimes we can go kicking and screaming all the way to the throne room, but once we admit our error, our arrogance, our ignorance, we are able to repent and approach God, humility must take over and we realize how wrong or how prideful we have been all those years. There is such freedom in living in a humble attitude.
There are many scriptures in God's word about humility. Even Jesus when He came to earth had to show such great humility. Let's just think about this for one moment. Jesus, (God in the form of man) came to earth, was born, suffered and died on that brutal cross. He had to humble himself as God in order to die and rise up on the 3rd day for you and me! This is very profound indeed. No human being would have done that...well, just simply because we can be prideful beings. Jesus had no pride, being God, of course. He had no problem doing what the Father asked Him to do.
So, we are truly on a journey to submit our 'pride' to Jesus on a daily basis and ask Him to remove it from us. Indeed, it is a daily journey that we must tackle every day.
Below please find a few more scriptures if you would like to study deeper into humility:
